Microsoft freaks out Seattle to celebrate Vista Launch.

Saturday, January 27th, 2007

This evening I started hearing rumbling from outside the house in North Seattle, but just thought it was a neighbor with is movie turned up too loud or something along those lines. When I got in the car to go pickup some food, I saw what was really going on. Unfortunately for me, thousands of other people all over Seattle saw this display and where equally surprised. For an hour or so, the freeway, and major streets with a view of the Lake Union area where clogged with gawkers staring skyward.

Grey Hair

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I’ve been telling myself that grey hair isn’t going to bother me even when it’s more pervasive on my head since it will blend with my light red hair so well that it will hardly be noticable…. at least I have no realistic chance of going bald!BTW, I’ve wondered for a while about the disparity in spelling between “gray” and “grey” Here’s the explanation according to wikipedia:British/Canadian: GreyAmerican: GrayGrey became the established British spelling in the 20th century, pace Dr. Johnson and others[49], and is but a minor variant in American English, according to dictionaries…. Some American writers[citation needed] tend to assign wistful, positive connotations to grey, as in “a grey fog hung over the skyline”, whereas gray often carries connotations of drabness, “a gray, gloomy day.”Wistful and positive seems suitable for the topic at hand, so I’m sticking with my roots and going with “grey”It also seems relevant to point out that I just noticed that today is my “half birthday”..

Gunfighting in the neighborhood

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

We where sitting back, watching an archived Simpsons episode last night when I heard what sounded like gunfire down the street. While we live in a relatively nice neighborhood, we’re only a couple of blocks away from the lovely Aurora Ave (hwy 99) which is well known for it’s seedy and tumultuous past. I […]

Sonics Vs Cavs

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

One of the highlights of the recent weather is that my companies corporate Sonics tickets went unused. Apparently our clients didn’t want to brave the “ice” and freezing temperatures. Fortunately for us, the overnight freeze never materialized and we where able to drive home from the game on bare and wet pavement, with temps […]

Cold outside? How about some Starbucks?

Tuesday, January 16th, 2007

Upon further examination, I realized that most of the fealing of horror that I’m experiencing comes not from the huge number itself, but from the fact that I’m not at all surprised by this finding.People across the rest of the country are coming to this same conclusion. Find your own Starbucks density here. For some comparison, there are 99 stores within a 5 mile radius of my old apartment on Capitol Hill. Even this figure pales in comparison to some of the major urban areas. While I’m generally in favor of capitalism and agree with most of the tenants of a free market economy, this is just beyond crazy.

Freezing fog -or- ouch, my !@(*ng back

Sunday, January 14th, 2007

Despite the back-pain I’ve been experiencing since throwing it out (following a snowboard incident) I hauled myself out side to snap some quick photos before the temperatures warmed…. This is one of those things that happen to you as you age that makes you realize you aren’t as young as you’d like to thing…. a fate which, now that the Seahawks are out, has been disappointing.I’ll stop my complaining now though since I’ve had plenty of time to read and catchup on the tv shows recorded on the DVR.

Snow and Ice abound..well ice anyway

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Seattle has been hit with a mild dose of winter weather and as expected, everyone is freaking out.
I‘m personally quite happy to frolic in the snow with my dog, stay in my sweat pants and work from home today, but really people.. it’s not that bad.
Enjoy the white stuff while it lasts. […]

“I Almost Shit My Pants! I Almost Shit My Pants!”

Sunday, January 7th, 2007

From the venerable Seattlest. I was going to try and sum up the pain and joy and chaos brought on by last night’s crazy game, but I’ll just let them do it.
“I Almost Shit My Pants! I Almost Shit My Pants!”:

Romo sign procured from Qwest Field by our roommate, who was at the game, sitting […]
