So I made myself a cup of tea…

Friday, February 29th, 2008

I do this all the time.. make myself a cup of afternoon tea in the kitchen here at work. Just like always I grabbed one of the plain white mugs out of the cupboard, poured the hot water over the tea bag and retreated to my office.
Only today I found something a little different about […]

Working in downtown

Friday, August 10th, 2007

I had forgotten just how much I love working in downtown Seattle. For the past year or so, I’ve been working primarily with clients outside of the downtown business district. This has meant driving to work to ugly and unfriendly places North and East. Today, I complete my first (almost) full week of working with […]

City of Seattle comes through with water leak rebate

Friday, May 4th, 2007

A few months ago I posted about a serious water leak I had repaired in our front lawn.
Our last water bill came a couple of weeks ago. We where charged $341.62 for December and January. This, apparently, is what it costs to use an average of 311 gallons of water every day - ouch. Not […]

My Eyes

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

At 17, I could still pick out road signs way before anyone else in the car. I liked it that way. They say that most people who now wear glasses can point to a specific moment when the realized that they couldn’t see as well as they thought. For me, it was at Safeco field while watching the mariners play about a month ago. I have clearly become accustomed to the lower service my eyes are providing my brain over the past few years because I thought that, while I can’t see as well as my 17 year old self, I was still doing fairly well…. Ok, this is a problem, I realized. For the rest of the game, and for the next couple of days I attempted to convince myself that my eyes had been out of focus not because they are going bad, but because it was night, I had drank a couple of beers, I had been looking at computers screens all day, etc. It hasn’t worked.

Tidbits for Tuesday

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

The old man in me who relies on the money I am currently investing in my 401k shook his fist at those damn kids on wall street today… ouch!

The young kid in me who still likes video games is frustrated at how difficult it is to find accessories in stock for his Nintendo Wii.

Richard Branson invests in our future

Friday, February 9th, 2007

Some of them like the tremendously successful X prize have helped the world realize that we as a people are capable of much more than public funding can pay for and standard motivation would suggest. Today came word that Sir Richard Branson has once again raised the bar, challenging the worlds top minds to address the very real problem of climate change.LONDON (AP) — British tycoon Richard Branson dangled a $25 million prize before the world’s top scientists Friday seeking to spur research into devising ways to suck greenhouse gases out of the air.Former Vice President Al Gore lent his support to the challenge, which came a week after a landmark report by the world’s leading climate scientists and government officials warned that global warming will continue, creating a far different planet in 100 yearsThis is only one small step in the overall battle to put right what we have for so long been making wrong. That’s saying something considering the twenty five million dollar sum.
